Serve your local community and be an important element of the election process by becoming a poll worker. Poll workers operate polling places on Election Day and assist voters with the voting process.

 

Qualifications to become a poll worker:

  1. A United States Citizen
  2. A resident of California
  3. 18 years of age or older*

*If you are under the age of 18, but are a high school student in Tulare County, you are eligible to work as a Student Poll Worker.

 

Poll Worker descriptions and job duties:

All poll workers are required to attend a poll worker training session for each election that they plan to serve in.

 

Chief and Inspector

  1. Serve at an assigned polling location on Election Day from 6:00 a.m. until all duties are completed and all required items have been returned to the Election Night return center
  2. Oversee and assist Clerks in setting up polling location
  3. Assist voters in accordance with Election Code and defined procedures
  4. Oversee and assist Clerks in closing polls procedures

Compensated $140-$160

Clerks

  1. Serve at assigned polling location on Election Day from 6:00 a.m. until all duties are completed and polling location has closed
  2. Assist in setting up and preparing the polling location
  3. Assist voters in the voting process
  4. Assist in closing polls procedures

Compensated $120
