Each polling location has been evaluated to ensure accessibility.  In some polling locations, temporary thresholds, ramps, signage, cones, and door props are used to improve access to the facility.

REMOTE ACCESSIBLE VOTING

Voters with disabilities can request access to the Remote Accessible Vote by Mail system by contacting our office at (559) 839-2100. The Remote Accessible Vote by Mail system will be available beginning 29 days before Election Day.

IN-PERSON ACCESSIBLE VOTING

The Ballot Marking Device will be available in every polling place for each election. Although the Ballot Marking Device can be used by all voters, there are special functions that will allow voters with specific needs to mark their ballot privately and independently.  The Ballot Marking Device accessible voting machine is equipped with a touchscreen viewing device with large-print text, adjustable font controls, and high contrast options. To use the Ballot Marking Device, voters make selections by touching the screen, and can review their selections on their printed paper ballot before casting their vote.

For audio voting, the Ballot Marking Device accessible voting machine is equipped with headphones and a Braille-embossed handheld keypad, with keys coded by color and shape. To use the audio, voters are provided with headphones that will guide you through the ballot marking process which will then allow you to listen to your selections before casting your vote.

CURBSIDE VOTING

Curbside voting is available and should take place as close to the polling location as possible.  A poll worker will be able to qualify the voter, provide the voter with a ballot while allowing the voter to vote in private, and return the ballot to the polling location.

LANGUAGE ACCESSIBILTY

Tulare County official ballots and election materials are printed in English and Spanish languages and available at all polling locations. 

In addition, facsimile ballots in Tagalog, Ilocano, Burmese and Laotian are available at designated polling locations in Tulare County.  A list of designated polling locations and the specified language assistance is available at on our website.  Voters who require assistance may bring up to two (2) people to assist them in marking their ballot at a polling location.  A voter may also call, mail, fax or email a request to receive a copy of a facsimile ballot in Tagalog, Ilocano, Burmese and Laotian no later than seven (7) days before an election.
