The Election Tree marks the historic site of the first election that led to the formation of Tulare County. Located on the north bank of the Kaweah River in the Venice Hills area, this landmark commemorates a foundational moment in local history. Beneath the tree stands a monument inscribed with the following words:
“ELECTION HELD UNDER THIS TREE ON JULY 10th, 1852 A PARTY UNDER COMMAND OF MAJOR SAVAGE HELD THE ELECTION BY WHICH TULARE COUNTY WAS ORGANIZED.”
